Caste,Cricket and Politics

Caste  Indian cricket team and Politics
Just 4% of population but 7 Brahmins in Indian XI?
Does caste play a role in Indian cricket?
Yes,It is often herd that caste play effective role in politics but you ever heard about that caste also play an important role in Indian cricket .I am not talking about only national team, test match teams alone, but
also State teams and local teams and club teams.
From the 1960s to the 1990s, the Indian team averaged six Brahmins, sometimes even nine, despite Brahmins comprising just a little over four per cent of the population.Even today in Indian team there are more than 5 Brahimn players. In the  Sydney Test Indian XI, there are 7 Brahmins (Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, V.V.S. Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, R.P. Singh, Ishant Sharma),one Jat (Yuvraj Singh), one Rajput (M.S. Dhoni), one Muslim (Wasim Jaffer), and one Sikh (Harbhajan Singh). In other words, nine Hindus (seven of them upper-caste) and two non-Hindus.
Of course they(Brahimns) are good players no doubt about it,i don't want to critise them, but i want to saw that caste system is still pratice in India today. Not only in cricket but also in every sector like higher posts in police, judges, professor of higher education and so on.We can take the example of politics we can see that eight of India’s 14 prime ministers have been Brahmin, with just 10 out of India’s 60 year post-Independence existence being under the yoke of Brahmins.
It is talk about  India that there is not inequality in India, many politician says that we are success to fall down inequality, but I think that which type of equality is this?.
What are you thinking about this?.

  1. congo for ur first post ! ur post has raised a question in my mind - how much it is feasible to view any sport from caste point of view ?
what if I say that color of your blog supports islam :)
I agree that Indian cricket team has many upper caste people , but don't you think that these people are those people who got opportunity to practice while if we look at dalit people, they are not much exposed to any sport because they are so busy with their own problems they can't even think for sport like cricket , even if they think they can they raise themselves to these standards ? think about it :) good effort keep it up
